Title: LED headlight (H4) for GS500F?
Post by: Rallyfan on January 12, 2015, 03:44:25 PM
Dear all,

Having searched, having participated in a previous discussion, and being aware of the ADV forum recommended LED bulb (that is larger than the stocker and will require some filing) I wanted to ask the following:

Has anyone used this particular bulb:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L1XUQFO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3O4RWE1VUFVPX&coliid=IJZ5Q9PE2KXPT

in their GS500F headlight housing?

If so was it a direct drop in or did it require modification? Moreover how does it work in terms of light output and reliability?

Many thanks.

I bought these and am still waiting on their shipment.

one for $45.
vs
two for $20.

I bought these and will return them.  They suck, nice color, not even close to bright enough.

I think the LED with a chip and cooling sink would be ok, but I can't say for sure.

I can't comment on the one you linked, but some of the guys over at DoTheTon are running this one. A bit more expensive, but they seem to like it. The guy that runs Cognito Moto is a really cool dude. I have ordered a few things from him for my CB350 and am really thinking about picking up one of these.

wow that looks pretty easy to make yourself! looks like some diodes are hidden inside the little black housing part.. I have an extra H4 bulb I can cut apart, I might attempt to make one and do a write up.

not to steal that guys thunder or anything.  :flipoff: :whisper:

Thanks all for the suggestions!

If I'm honest, I'm having difficulty visualizing how the fan and the rubber boot will coexist?

doesn't look like it would work with that fin cooler, unless you tear the opening and put it over the fin.
