I took off my carbs and cleaned them. Now I have a couple questions. In the attached image, circled in red, I seem to be missing the T that goes there. What does it do and how important is it? Can I cap those off or do I need to order another part?
Then circled in blue, I added those vacuum caps. I understand one goes to the petcock, if I'm dealing with the right ports. Is that correct?

I searched before posting and couldn't find anything about this particular spot, at least not about what it does. If somebody could just point me in the right direction, it'd be much appreciated...
Dunno the answer, but here's a BUMP so hopefully someone who does will see.
I don't mess with carbs much because I've never needed to but this drawing from the wiki should help. Looks like the missing T circled in red is for the carb bowl vents, might be OK vented to atmosphere like that but I'd run the hose back behind the air box where it goes. There have been issues with high speed cross winds when they affect improper bowl venting.
The frame petcock vacuum comes from the blue circle connection on the left carb. Could be the right one is just capped off?

If the carbs are similar to the 04-09 models I can confirm that upper T goes to vacuum vent. I've ran a busted up rubber hose on the top of mine and havent replaced it. It seems to work fine. I'd be interested in seeing if it improves the conditions of my carbs by replacing it, but I dunno how if its venting to atmospheric pressure anyway.
Excellent info, thanks all. I'll probably just order a replacement T and hose, just to be on the safe side. Good to know it's not a huge deal though.
Dr M, I first became aware of the problem from CW magazine and it has been reported by members here since then. It is intended that the carb bowls be vented to atmospheric pressure but it seems that high winds encountered at higher speeds can cause higher or lower pressures around the vent hose opening if it's not properly shielded from them.

This actually makes alot of sense. I should probably replace mine too then while I have the carbs off my bike.
Do you know what diameter all the vacuum hosing is?
