Title: Wire that connects to the front brake fluid reservoir
Post by: Codoloco on February 21, 2015, 12:33:46 AM
Hi guys just wondering, I eneded up ordering universal clutch and brake levers and was wondering what is the wire going into the brake fluid reservoir.   I see the hose but there is a wire also plugged into it... Can I take that wire off

That wire might be for the switch for your brake lights. Not too sure though, haven't had need to change anything with the brakes.

Yes for brake lights. .. you don't 'need' it. .. for brake only function... but the Leos might get a bit funny about no light! ;)

Lol I see what you mean... I thought the back brake lever controls the rear light though.    Thanks!!

Is it a single wire or is it the safety switch, which has two prong connectors?

It splits off with the brake fluid line from the caliper  and connects in or near the brake fluid reservoir.  Pretty sure it was a two prone connecter.. im not near my bike an my memory is not serving its purpose right now.  I bought levers as well.. i probably dont make sense right now.

Did they look similar to this?

...Just you know, on the brake lever side.

Yes, it's the clutch in the picture. However, the switch hook-ups look similar to that on both sides. A picture of what you're describing would certainly help!  :icon_lol:

Yes I'm looking for the front brake side, the side with the brake fluid reservoir.   The clutch lever doesn't have the reservoir on top of it.. Ill take a picture just cant right now  :icon_confused:

Im taking the brake fluid reservoir off and putting the new one on so i dont know what to do with the wire thats beside the front brake fluid line on my 92
