Title: Oil pump prime?
Post by: J_Walker on February 24, 2015, 09:41:54 AM
So I took my GS out for a spin today cause I got the air filter on the darn thing and it sure ran a lot smoother, less backfires. no more misfires either. so I'm happy about that.

one tiny issue... The side of my engine is blistering hot. after 1.2 mile run. but I can kiss the oil cooler on the thing? I'm thinking there is air somewhere in the bike, as it was completely drained of oil. and I totally forgot about this little issue until just today..

so first question. is this post the right way of getting that air out?

and if not, what is?

edit; I don't even know why I asked before I tried. Yup that was it. it works. one note to it though. when you loosen the oil filter cap. do so until only a few drips come out, turn on the bike, it will have a steady flow, when that flow STOPs. don't turn off the bike, tighten up the bolts. then you're safe to turn off the bike. other wise, it must suck air back in or something. lol

OIL COOLER IS NOW HOT.
