our very own Leveller (sp?) has gotten some press for his website www.gs500e.co.uk in an Int'l magazine (Performance Bikes, base din UK)! Competition between 3 teams given about US$1200 (850GBP) to buy a suzuki and race an 8 hr endurance race. One of which is a gs500 piloted by gs500e.co.uk members!

COngratulations Lev and hope the team does well!
well if they need some long distance endurance advice im sure they will come by here..
make sure you win lev.. and congrats guys.
I wish I could make out what "Da Rules" are. If you can open the motor up balance that biatch. If Suzuki is as "tolerant" with the weight deviations on the crank, rods and pistons as they are with the other ever-so-slight shortcomings of this fine ride, it'll need it for an eight hour run. That will win the race for them.
When and where will the competition be?
I wish American motorcycle magazines would do this kind of thing. Instead, they tend to fill 90% of the pages with ads and "showcase pages" that are essentially ads. The rest of the attention is usually given to either reprinting/rehashing European articles or running the latest crop of sportbikes around Willow Springs as fast as possible and then printing the lap times.
Very little attention to older bikes.
Adam
the problem is when you say "older bike" to an american motorcycle journalist, they think "2002" They don't realize that most of the people who actually own an "old" 2002 still haven't finished paying it off yet. oh well, guess I'll have to keep paying 8 bucks a pop of british bike mags which are only slightly better.

I don't think that any of us had a single doubting moment about the outcome of that contest ;)
Please pass on a hardy congrats to the pilots and the rest of the team.
God damn I'm feeling proud! :)
Congratulations to the PB team.
great job lev....congrads
HA HA
That's sweet.
When is the issue with the race coming out?
Probably won't be out til April. I think March's issue should have the mods and the speed testing at Bruntingthorpe. So I'm guessing April. Really was a fantastic day out... the magazine staff even treated us all to a BBQ! Great bunch of guys. :thumb:
Sean
That is so cool :thumb:
Looks like a big turn out from the GS crowd as well. I really like the black one with that crazy swingarm.
I love PB. They actually have fun doing their jobs. I've been reading that mag on and off for like 9 years now (usually standing in Barnes and Noble, cuz I'm too cheap to buy it). I remember they once had a test between andold czech made bike (the Cz) and some french made 3 wheeled car/bike hybrid. One of the funniest things I ever read.
Instead we get treated to things like Stayin' Safe and how to rebuild your Harley's carbs again and again.
Jake
what kind of mods did you do on the winning GS?
