Title: No power difference between hald and full throttle
Post by: Majes on March 02, 2015, 01:22:59 AM
Hi everybody!

I've got a stock gs500F 2007, and i've got this problem: I can't notice any power difference between half and full throttle... maybe just a 10% more. The bike (And me) is from spain.

What do I have to check? Checked the valves like 8000km ago. Maybe rejetting? putting a higher main jet could solve the problem?

Any tips to unscrew correctly the carb's screws? They are a bit stripped, and stuck in it's place (Bowl and top)

Thanks to all! :D

Higher main jet, probably running lean.

Grip pliers for screws work fine:

JIS screwdrivers work even better!

Perhaps some other forum members could also suggest a good place to get replacement screws, the type that won't rust...

Hmmm yes. . JIS for the ideal fit/grip in the screw heads..  unless they are already so badly mauled that there's no slots left, rather a valley of smeared metal. .

A search should show up the pitch and sizing... some people go for the Allen head bolts .. which you might need to get from a bolt/fastener shop? .. or might be lucky and find them in local hardware! .. 316(?) Stainless perhaps?

Still take care with remove and replace though.... the carb metal is like some other parts on bike.. easily stripped if over torqued!

Its just a small carb bolt to tighten.. not a bulldozer hub bolt! ;)

Cheers  Sledge ,  +1   ,    my first step is always using  JIS  screwdrivers  :thumb:  next step would be  using Vice Grips  then   next  step  would be impact driver  $ 8.75  at autozone  , then  step #4  (last chance)   electric  discharge machine  ( EDM)    If  you need more info on using the impact driver let me know . kind regards   rg500gamma
