Title: gas in airbox
Post by: Puunjob on February 09, 2004, 12:35:22 PM
Well i cleaned my carbs becasue the bike was running really rough and dying when I hit the throttle.  It turned out that my primary jets were clogged I cleaned them along with everything else.  I noticed that there was gass in my airbox not a whole lot but the connections to the carbs were visibly wet and the whole box reeked of gass.  Any thoughts on why or how to fix it?

Gas will get into the airbox if the floats are stuck or set wrong...
You might need to clean your carbs for starters.  But if they are stuck gas would continue to come out.   :x   Which is very annoying.

Or you could have flooded it.. I guess.  Take the airbox out and clean it.  Mind you I found it easier to get the airbox back installed while already attached to the carbs.

Course I could be wrong.

Could be some blow-by from the crankcase breather hose. Nothing to worry about if it's only a small amount.

snapper do you mean attach the airbox to the carbs and then put the whole thing in the frame and attach it to the rest of the engine

Yes, snapper's right, that's the easiest way to do it. See pictures on my web site:
