Title: Added a center stand to my gs500e
Post by: anoopb on March 11, 2015, 07:36:33 AM
Hi.

If you look at my previous posts, you'll know that my GS500e was significantly shorter when he came to me. Previously, it was lowered for a lady and so a lot of things were just not used.

THe center stand is one of those things.

I recently put the center stand back on but I noticed that the stand rubs up directly against the stand itself.

I'm wondering if there's some sort of rubber bushing that it's supposed to rest against so that it's not touching the chain?

Should I maybe just get rid of the center stand entirely?

I put it back on because i wanted to park my new car and moto in the same parking spot a little more efficiently.

Thanks!

Anoop

Is that what you meant?
It should under no circumstance touch the chain, I believe :icon_exclaim:

There should be a center stand stop on the muffler.

I had the same exact issue with my bike!
Except mine didn't come with a center stand.  I bought a used one locally (didn't realize that the step part of the stand was bent out of shape), tried bolting it on and had the same exact issue.
Since I don't ever use the center stand except during maintenance, I just keep it off the bike.  When I do maintenance, I stick the largest screwdriver I have through the holes in lieu of the bolts, and use that.  Easy in/ easy out.
