Title: Runs terribly after been sitting all winter.
Post by: Super Shadow on April 15, 2015, 01:44:14 PM
Bee having issues ever since the winter has been over,  It ran like crap the first time i started it, and so far i have cleaned the filter, taken the carbs apart and cleaned them out, taken the jets out and cleaned them, and put a set of new spark plugs in.  Now the problem i am having is that when i start it, it revs extremely high(4-5k) like i have the choke on, but i don't. When the choke is applied the revving gets even higher.  Eventually it calms down and starts to bog down when idling.  Try to give a few revs and it wants to die.  then i turn the petcock on prime and its runs super high again, until it backs down again in a few minutes.  The only thing i haven't done is check the float height because i don't have any clear fuel line available at the moment.  Also, when it is bogging and i do manage to rev it up a little, it takes a long time to back down to idle. I'm  getting really frustrated and need an outsiders opinion.  it make it more frustrating because i grew up learning Fuel injection and not carburetors.
Also to be clear i have the KN lunch box and a yosh trs slipon with with the 20\60\147.5 w/ 2 washers jetting

Two things, try to assist the idle with the idle adjust screw, it can give funny behaviour if not properly adjusted.
Secondly make sure there are no leaks around the carb boots, sprits with wd40 method.

Apologies, adjust, not assist

Thought I tried playing with the idle. Gonna give it another shot though maybe I'll close it all the way first and then open it up.

It ran fine when put away for the winter season right? That makes me think your setting should be fine. I think it's a vacuum leak of some kind.  Double check all your hoses 1st. Mine has the vacuum petcock removed and the cap I used to plug the carb goes missing on occasion.

Checked the float height and they are both correct

Idle screws was turned way up to compensate for semi clogged jets from last year. Forgot to adjust it after I cleaned everything out this year. Going to confirm it still runs when I get a brake at work today
