Title: latest model or aftermarket coils that will fit a '94
Post by: twistit on April 17, 2015, 11:44:16 AM
I got bad coils on my '94 and the motorcycle shop that tested them and said they were toast recommended that I fit aftermarket coils on the bike since coils that have been in the parts bin for 20 years are not going to be optimum due to age.  What is the latest model GS500 coil that will fit a '94 or what is an aftermarket coil that will fit the mounts and the frame space?

Sorry, what do you mean by coils? Fork springs?

According to PartsFish.com the part numbers are the same for your 94 and the most resent gs500f, a 2009 model.
If I were you I'd watch ebay and the sale section here for newer used parts. New coils are $95 each. Ouch!
I have never herd of anyone putting aftermarket coils on a GS. I can only imagine that the stock coil already creates 10 times more power then our puny engine needs.

+1.

If you look on eBay for used coils, try to find some off the newest GS500 you can with "normal" miles (not from a rotting 89 model that has 250k on it).

Yah, coils are ignition coils, springs are...springs, at least in the US.
