Title: Lunchbox & Takkoni slipon Carb tuning
Post by: Krav on April 30, 2015, 02:32:59 AM
Hello,

I want to install my long overdue K&N lunchboxfilter, instead of my podfilters this afternoon.

What mainjet's should i install? I've got 140, 144 and 148.

I do realize that there's a wiki page for just this, but i find the given values there inconsistent, when reflected upon eachother, and its not very complete :p

TheBuddha sells rejet kits for this sort of thing. I just bought a set for my 2004 GS to rejet for a lunchbox and an aftermarket pipe. He included size  147.5 mains and size 20 pilots.

What year is your GS? Older years use different sized jets than newer models.

144 aint no mikuni size. Neither is 148. 140 is, but doubt they are the same as mikuni the 140's. You have the needle they have cut for this main ? The DJ and their ilk of kits manage to run very different and incomprehensible jet numbers by machining the needle to their mains. The mikuni parts in my kit only use a stock needle.
Cool.

The jets correspond to the carbs, cos the 89-09 motors are near identical (head, cams valves, pistons, cyls etc) ... so 99 engine with 06 carbs = you jet it like an 06.
Cool.

Well, the jets are actually Dell Ortho Jets, but srsly, I got 6 Jets for under 10 Euro's. A Dynojet kit would've cost me at least 7 times that amount. I mean, i may eventually buy one, but for now im good.

The main's are almost right. It goes like i've never seen before when cold, and it dimms down a bit when it gets warmer. So i'd say i have to shrink in size just a bit more, but at the moment its not really an issue. Ill test it for a prolonged period of time before i'll make my concusions on which i will act. (yezzir :police:)

About the needles. Well. Im just trial and erroring here. The clip is now in the middle ring on the needle, and when warm its qujite fluently. However, when cold i have a noticable dip. Not too much of an issue, but something that needs sorting out eventually.

But Buddha, now that you're here anyway :p Given the setup im driving atm. What do YOU think i should drive. Lets say i was to spent 70 euro on this. What kit should i use to make my bike ride better?
