Fellow GS500 owners. I'm re building my carbs. During the process of trying to take the two apart, I managed to strip all the screws and had to cut the "plates" that hold the carbs together. I've looked all over the internet and cannot find a place to buy new ones. I was able to buy a ton of replacement parts from bikebandit.com but had no luck on the plates. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kenton G.
Not sure what plates you're talking about because I don't do carb work myself, but try cheapcycleparts.com
They are more or less the "brackets" that hold the two carbs together. If you look at the link I added below you will see part #'s 51 and 54 labeled "plate". Those two are what I need.

I "might" have a couple of those in the garage, but it will tale me a couple days to look. Buddha may have some as well, and try sending Raven91 a pm too. He recently rebuilt some carbs and may have a spare set.....
That would be awesome. Let me know what you want for them and how you'd like payment sent. Let me know ASAP as I should be getting my other parts in tomorrow. :thumb:
I was poking around in the garage earlier and saw I do have those brackets.....but one is slightly bent. Literally, just a couple degrees. I'll take a picture tomorrow so you can see for yourself.
Here they are:

Sorry about the bad pic. That screw is stripped, but I can grind the head off and not bend the bracket any more than what it is. If you want them, pay the price if shipping (about $6) and they are yours.
Big Rich, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I was able to stop by a local salvage yard today in Central Jersey where I live and picked up a whole gs500 for parts...... Thanks anyways. :woohoo:
