Title: Engine Knock
Post by: Rollin668 on February 11, 2004, 09:22:33 AM
Noticed an engine knock a couple days ago...
It almost feels like the engine is quitting for a split second... no loss in power and only does it when cold and when at idle...
Anyone think this may be a sign of something bad coming along?   :dunno:

Thanks.

Mine does that on occasion as well... not very loud, and I only notice it when idling, and when it's cold.  Been meaning to ask about it....

Richard, I wondered for a long time whether the camchain tensioner needed adjustment on your bike.  (I still wonder....)  Another possibility is a considered-by-most-to-be-harmless bit of camshaft sideplay.

If / when it ever warms up around here, let's have a session to check your valve clearances and the camchain tensioner.
