Hi folks,
After a Ventura rack for the GS500 2003, but I can't believe the price for what amounts to a little bit of pipe. With accurate plans I could surely get the local steel guys to build one of not myself.
Does anyone know of clean DIY builds? I've seen fugly ones with massive plates and such. I basically want to clone the rack.
Will post progress so please let me know if you see something or know of measurements - even pointers.

If you haven't already, you should head over to ADVrider and look around the "Some Assembly Required" section. Very little will be specific to the GS500 but you will get some inspiration.

Some guys are great with fabrication work. I am not one of them.
I was thinking about something like this too, did not find any plans on the web, but after much searching I have found a second hand hepco and becker rack for my gs 500, for a top case and for sidecases, for only 50 euros incl shiping. I am waiting for it to be send in the next few days.

The Suzuki factory rack was discontinued years ago but some used ones have been available. When I added bracing to my 02 rack to support a topcase I made this attached sketch for myself of how I would make one for a topcase if I ever needed another. No welding required, just a hacksaw, drill, and little screws and nuts.
