So the bike has a slight whirring/chirping noise and I'm not sure if its normal or not.

videos are hard to really tell phones pick up noises that sometimes you don't hear and make people think it is something else. So just bring it to a local bike shop tell them you are not familiar with this bike and see if they can listen to it for you, i did this and he walked right out fired it up and told me all the sounds i am hearing that got me worked up were normal working noises just that the gs500 is a very noise bike. It took so much off my shoulders hearing that since my first bike was a Honda hurricane which made hardly any engine noise.

Mostly normal noises, but......

There is extra ummm 'sounds a bit like a supercharger or geardrive cam set' noise? ... or maybe sounds a bit like extra 'little squirt of electric leafblower' noise?

Header/exhaust bolts tight/snug? ...

What air filter setup does it have?

The noise that's different to mine is air-y or gassy in nature/type. .. I'd almost say it has a tiny overrun on revdrop too but it may be just because of the noise cause,  not causing the noise!?

Haven't got any funny looking restrictors jammed in end of muffler?

Revs up sounds normal pretty much. ... it's the revs down I notice
