Hey guys,
Some time ago I removed the tank+carbs to clean, re-assembled and since then, everytime I turn the handle bar right, it revs. normal reving of the throttle (twisting throttle) seems ok, no sticking. Even if I'm sitting on the bike, not accelerating and I turn the bars right, it revs right up.
If it has something to do with the throttle cable and slack... how much slack do I give the cable where is connects to the throttle body?
Also, while Im here, is there suppose to be a gap with the butterfly valves? or do they close all the way ?

Thanks :)
There might be a tolerance for slack in the manual. But if your engine is revving when you turn the bars, it is a problem with your throttle cable routing. Since I don't own a 500, I can't really help with the proper routing - sorry.
And yes, there should be a minuscule gap under the butterfly valves when the throttle is closed. The idle adjustment screw changes that gap.
I don't want to make it seem like I'm insulting your intelligence but you know the carbs are upside down in the picture right?
Other than that the throttle cables should run right down the middle under the tank.

Maybe he has Australian carbs and need to be mounted that way because of the Coriolis effect? :dunno_black:
:)
Your throttle cables are just barely too tight. I've said it before, but no one believes me, here is ANOTHER EXAMPLE. You should set throttle play with the bars all the way to the right. Look at your carbs and watch the cables as you turn the bar, one of them will take out all its slack as you go right. Give it a bit more slack and you'll be good.
Check choke cable too while you're at it. Reving on right turn of bars can pull choke open and rev engine. Normally run around front of left fork tube it can be rerouted behind if that's the problem.
Thanks guys, I'll check the cables and make sure they're not pulling :)
Oh, and the carbs are out of the bike, that's why they're upside down in the pic :p
Disconnect one cable first, then start the bike and turn the bars. If the problem remains it is the other cable that is giving you grief.
