Title: 2001 Suzuki GS500E Project (Iteration #1)
Post by: myersg11 on June 15, 2015, 12:42:56 PM
Hello Everyone,

I just got a 2001 Suzuki GS500E as an alternative "toy" to my F models.  Got it for a good deal although the bike has a few rough edges.
- been dropped (slow speed crash or been backed over by a car/truck - weird scratches)
- carbs are not right
- handle bars are bent
- side cover scratch and emblem missing.
- tank paint is bubbling
- tachometer casing is cracked

I plan on doing this in stages with Stage #1 being:
- Delkevic full exhaust http://www.delkevic.us/index.php?route=product/product&path=9181_10095_10208_10213&product_id=5843
- K&N air filer (remove box)
- Stage #2 carb kit
- BikeMaster clubman bars
- Handle bar mirrors.
- emblem

At least some of the work may be done at the local Suzuki dealer.  I want to tweak the carbs myself but the tech there is really good with jetting/pipes.  From there, ride it like I stole it and then come up with a 2nd iteration.
