Title: rpms 6000 help (cold start)

Suzuki gs500e 1996. Made some changes to the motorcycle (cut frame,made seat short)did not touch engine or carb!!!
Only what i did just changed air filter .

Before modifications bike ran fine.
When I start the bike RPMs goes to 5-6000 and won't go down.
Please! Any advices,help ? thank you

Changing the air filter IS changing the engine/carbs. Did you have the factory air box before? If you did, you definitely need a rejet. Not sure why the revs go so high though.

Those air filters flow a lot more than the stock air box, effectively leaning out the mixture, which would raise the idle.
You can try just running the idle screw out a whole lot and see if it becomes manageable, but the proper solution is a rejet.

Or put the stock air box back on...
