Title: No going back, start of my stree tighter chop
Post by: scotty110788 on June 29, 2015, 10:18:49 PM
Well got bike few weeks back, gs500e 1992. Gonna turn it into a single seater chop, twin headlights, powder coat, custom tank job from my tattooist and much more, gonna take a while because of work/ money commitments so be patient ; p when i first go it as you can see in pictures, the paint job is terrible, hammerite is covering everything! More pics to follow the night as welder packed in but will be getting fixed today : ( (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/29/bbdd2a8615ea4f50e251677d7b10c047.jpg)(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/29/bb81b358fa6f097276c7a9e14324f23e.jpg)(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/29/e91b1892965f3e863b541e4a3bd22ab1.jpg)

I see good progress over here  :thumb:

Question: what did you do with the chainguard and right engine cover?
Are these all loose stickers an did you do the sticker bomb yourself?
Looking at the photo's it looks like one solid piece hence my question.

Keep up the good work

Haha Buddha now now I meant sweeeet to the tank paint!

And to be fair, I did inquire about the seat comfort/squeezing the beans in this thread right here...
http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=69062.0

...but I got ignored by the person who posted the thread  :icon_rolleyes:  :icon_razz:

No we dont like to consider threads from people without beans about squeezing the beans. It seems like they're squeezing us for ... well ... information.
But however yes on all counts.
Cool.

Slowly getting there, the dark nights and Christmas coming up ain't helping, atm I'm busy doing the panels for the rear/ seat, rebuilding brakes and painting, had to customise tank bracket for it to fit, customise the tail tidy to fit brake light, gonna get chain and sprockets soon so I can straighten back wheel up and tighten it up, also getting new coils and plugs, new frogs, levers, braided hoses, pegs, speedo etc...

The light hasn't come out as good as I wanted, ordered a 7" instead of an 8 but can't send back as I've customised it to fit the sidelight in so gonna have to live with it, the engine will be getting painted and that will be last thing I do then all engine bolts replaced with stainless, have bought a better loom as mine was all over the place, have bought some second hand carbs as mine wer shot, every bolt I have replaced with stainless, apart from brakes, I've replaced the R6 shock with a katana, my front brake is now a nissin and rear break is a ajp (not sure if good or bad, come with bike), also need new ignition as mine seems t have a dodgy wire, also need to custom me battery box, get a short exhaust, so still way to go and sorry if this status seems a bit all over but thought I'd just let yous know all my plans so far 😂

I have a hard mounted headlight bracket on my GS, and it blows headlight bulbs, barely a week out of each bulb.
I believe the stock rubber mounted ears are the best bet for keeping em alive.
Cool.

No going back, start of my stree tighter chop <- Your title ???

Dude that is right up there with mis spelling "Marry Chrasmas" in Christmas lights.

hey I don't know if you've tried riding with hand grips with that metal accent part where your finger and thumb go, but I rode with that type of grip for a while and I hated it because I had to grip extra hard to make sure the throttle didn't slowly close while I was riding.

Kind of annoying and tiring on the right hand.

I got these Renthal grips and I am very happy with how much easier it is to handle

Oh wait, you don't have a brake stay installed.

Looks like you could simply position it at the stock angle (straight up n down I think) and that might take up the slack.
