Title: painting AGAIN (sorry)
Post by: jiggersplat on February 13, 2004, 11:31:12 AM
okay, i know there's been about a million threads on using spray paint.  my question is, does anyone have a particular brand that they like?  one that holds up better than the others?

thanks,
dan

Walmart has this paint that promises no runs. Of course it might not work... but it promises.
Cool.

I use engine enamel.
Much tougher paint ....holds up to heat and gas spills as well.
Leave the painted parts in the sun(if it's warm where you are) or dry them a bit with a hairdyer ( but not too much!!!) and it'll have a lovely shine as well.

I would also wax the tank(or whole bike) after drying to help protect it.
Don't spill gas on it for the first couple of weeks...it's alright after that.

I would use a brand name such as plasti-cote(my favorite)/rustoleum/krylon.
You get what you pay for.....and it's not that much more than the cheap stuff.

I painted a 74 Honda 360 like this and it turned out so well people thought it came that color.
