Title: Reverse compatibility
Post by: Jagged on July 16, 2015, 04:07:30 PM
Hey I just moved to a new province, and due to the mods on my 06 gs500 it'll never pass the out of province inspection. so, I was checking around and found a killer deal on a 93 in good shape, just terrible colors. so what i am interested in is how useful my 06 will be as a donor bike in general and for the gas tank and tail plastics specifically, thanks

06 body wont fit 93 frame that easily.
The tail is a bit of work, tank is easier. I dunno what you're trying to pass and what you modded.
Let us know and someone here could help.
Cool.

well, Im not really trying to pass my 06 i already know it will cost more then it is worth to pass the alberta out of province inspection.  example, the 87 hurricane 600 upper triple, with the custom sleeve to fit and the motoscope mini led speedo mounted between the tank and the stem nut, and the ignition mounted in that sweet spot in the front. just have to replace too much with stock parts to pass this utterly ridiculous inspection. but i can buy a 93 off kijiji titled in alberta for 700, what i want to do is take  the nice black wheels, tank, and tail with the integrated signals off the 06 and put them on the 93 strictly for aesthetic purposes.

it's actually not hard to bolt on all the newer parts to an older body. I did it, just made a few brackets with some spacers and done.

not to complicated or expensive to do. Esp if you have a donor bike. That's assuming you're not swapping the front fairing onto it. Keeping it a naked bike is easiest.

gold. thats the answer i was hoping for, will be stripping my 06 for parts. anybody know of any parts offhand that i can NOT use on an 93 and thus should not be saved?
