Title: F2/f3 rear wheel?
Post by: Reknelb on July 18, 2015, 03:23:05 PM
Has anybody ever attempted or succeeded at using a cbr600 f2 rear wheel on the gs?

The katana rear is such an easy swap but, i have an f3 roller with wheels. Hopefully take a look tomorrow at a possible rear wheel swap. Im sure I'll be doing some machining.

So far...im using the right side wheel spacer and rear brake caliper hanger fron the f2. All my measurements say this centers the wheel in the center of the bike. Swingarms are usually offset to the left side to accomadate the chain and sorocket (cush drive). The gs swingarm has a little bit offset, or more space to the left side (chain side) of the swingarm, around .2"-.3". The f2 swingarm has alot more space on the left side of the swingarm So, Im doing all the machining to the cush drive so the wheel itself will be unmodified. I will also be using the f2 rear caliper and rearsets so i dont even have to disassemble the rear brake components and controls. The rear caliper holder rests against the swingarm so u dont need a brake arm. Captive spacers will be used to make up the difference in size between the f2 bearings and the gs axle.

And on a side note, the f2 front end is an easy swap too. The stem from the f2 is the same size as the gs. So its just grind the welds, press out stems, press gs stem into f2 triple. Just need a spacer on the top triple. The f2 center hole is bigger then the top diameter of gs stem.
