Title: Better replacement battery
Post by: gs2sv on February 14, 2004, 05:36:01 PM
Does anyone know of a replacement battery for the GS that has more cranking power. I don't know if my wifes GS had a bad batter to start with but it rarely holds a charge in the cold. If it sits in the cold garage overnight it will not have enough power to start the next morning. It is fine in warm weather but as soon as winter hits, the battery just can't cope. I don't know if this is a typical problem with the GS or if it's just ours. Anyway, any help is surely appreciated.
later.

ES12BS... sealed walmart battery, drops in sideways, some wiring needs to be fiddled about but fits and works well.
Cool.

does a sealed battery ever need maintenance like once a month charging if left sitting (ie during winter storage??)

I'm thinking to get one of these now that my battery seems dead. I charged it once a month over the winter while its been out of bike, but it wont reach more than 12.5v (used to get 14 after a charge). tried to start the bike yesterday but only got a few cranks before it totally died...

just curious to know what, if any, maintenance I would have to do to care of a sealed battery, or do they just take care of themselves??

thanks

OK I htink they last a little longer being sideways, but winter chargingif not used often will be ideal for any battery. I however use the bikes all year so I dont charge them.
Cool.
