Title: Gas/oil leak
Post by: iknownothing on July 30, 2015, 07:01:41 PM
Hi everyone,

Just bought a GS500F as my first bike and I love it so far.  Unfortunately, just noticed tonight when I walked by my bike that it was leaking gas (possible mixed with some oil?) out onto the ground.  I tracked it down to a tube on the right hand side that appears to have a cap on it which is split.  The tube doesn't connect to anything, it looks like it is maybe some kind of drain that can be used if necessary.  Anyway, I was hoping that somebody knows (1) what it is called and (2) the easiest way to fix it.  I took a couple of photos, hopefully clear enough.  See here: http://imgur.com/a/X4XJR

Cheers, thanks a bunch!

It does connect to something! ... else where is the gas coming from?

pull the tank and see what the hose is.  Might be a carb breather.  Could be over fueling

Strange routing, it should terminate below your right foot along with two other hoses, battery overflow and gas overflow.  The manual shows proper routing (either Suzuki or haynes). It should come from your air box, but it's strange routing makes me think the DPO  connected it to the gas tank overflow. If not, I'm guessing your airbox has gas in it. If yes you need to clean the float needle valves.
Although strangely it rained hard while I was at work yesterday and when I left  later some water seemed to come from that hose. I need to look into it.
