Title: Stator Replacment
Post by: Munut on August 10, 2015, 09:34:04 PM
G'day guys,
New here, joined up because I read on the GS riders FB group that this is the best place to come for GS advice.
I need to replace the stator on my 91 GS500E. I have found a reasonable priced one on ebay but the ad says it's for a 2001/2002 model. Will this work in my bike?
I noticed that my stator part number is listed for later model bikes as well as their intended stator but not visa versa. I assumed that was because obviously the newer bikes did not exist at the time of writing the parts catalog for my bike.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't say for certain that it will work. But when I bought my GS450 it had a bad stator and I replaced it with one from a GS500E. The only difference was the wiring connections - physically the stator itself was identical.

If the one you're looking at on ebay is a pretty good price, give it a shot. I'd be surprised if it didn't work.
