am i possibly going to be in violation of the local laws in IL? (not that i care about this part)
will it not be bright at all and be completely pointless?
looks cool though!
You might have to be the test case on this one...
It says it has certification. ... so it shouldn't be illegal. Now will it be bright enough to be useful? That's where we need a guinea pig...
Crash Test Dummy wanted. :technical:
Give it a try and let us know! I've been itching to buy the Truck Lites. Can't get myself to spend the money for the JW Speakers.

the truck lites are expensive aren't they? these are the phase 7s?
I DO NEED SPEAKERS!
The truck lites are running about 165 on eBay, the jw speakers are in the 280 range. The jw speakers seem to be the best though.

Does this projector fit inside GS front light housing, or it's mounted as is?
I'm asking because of all those cables that usually occupy the insides of GS headlight.

7-inch light that can be removed from the included plastic housing, so it appears there's a shot.
(now stop asking questions and reply encouraging anoopb to be the first sucker - I mean, uh, the first to try it..)

ok.
rule #1. Just like you shouldn't drink and ride, you shouldn't drink and forum.
I thought you were talking about speakers for your bike!
not headlights made by JW Speakers (what a messed up name!)
and yes, $280 is way more than i'm willing to spend right now although they are sexy as heck!
ok. it's in the mail.
i'll try to take as many pics as possible with before/after.
also, was able to negotiate price down to $70.
I believe the entire housing needs to be fitted, nit just the innards.
But I also believe we dont have enough wires to light up the angel eyes. Maybe feed a spearate line to it - and make sure it goes through the ignition cylinder. Else it light up all the time, even when the bike is standing in your garage.
But ...   to the guinea pig.
Cool.
Buddha.
woohoo! Take lots of pics. Definitely take some pics up against a wall at a certain height. None of those unbranded headlamps show the beam output and cutoff, which has kept me from buying them!
Beam up against wall is ok to show relative luminosity against old light. .... but beam pattern 'down the road ahead' is what counts and I suspect will make or break this light's usability!
Hard to see with the eBay pics but there doesn't seem to be much of a lens/projector setup to get the light out to distances needed to ride at night with? .. bright as heck in close but much beyond 15 metres remains to be shown?
Hopefully it is the next 'sliced bread' though!

this is my biggest worry. that i'll have to mod it up to use it and it will be crap as far as brightness.

why do you believe the entire housing needs to be fitted?
as for wiring, i figure at the very least, i can get the low/high beam hooked up to the switch on the handle bars before i go futzing with how i want to set it up. The low beam could handle the low light and the angel eyes.
i also thought that putting in a kill switch for the low beam so that just the angel eyes would run.
this is all in theory though.

Because that headlight looks like it will only fit that headlight bucket. The GS bucket looks rather different. But look at it and you should know.
The wiring - yea you figure that one when it gets here, you should be fine.
Cool.

anoopb, just wondering if you got the headlight in.
I ended up buying one of those trucklite headlights, but the stock headlamp assembly appears to be fairly custom. Like buddha mentioned, it looks like it'll be a custom job to get it in. I'm hoping someone else has done it before, but after doing some searching, I haven't found anything like it.
Luckily, the trucklite headlamp is smaller than the stock one, so I might be able to find a donor stock assembly, cut out the mounting bracket, and with the use of a trim ring, get it mounted in. I took some pictures of the new light while I held it by hand it it seems like it'll throw the light well, and had a very nice cutoff.
