Title: whats my problem

The other day I changed my tires then i disconnected my fuel tank to check my air filter and cleaned it up a bit after putting it all back together I  drove it and noticed it seemed off before I could cruise around in 3rd at 6rpm going 50mph and now it wont go over 45 same thing in 6th on the freeway I be cruising at 6 rpm at 80 mph and now it marks 5mph under I was wondering if it had something to do with my speedometer or my chain being to loose or tight or maybe I routed the hoses wrong i don't understand and its bugging me what can cause this to happen? I'd really appreciate any help.

Ow.... I'm not any kind of punctuation nazi, but that's tough to read.

What exactly is the problem?

I think that was all two sentences! Impressive.

Did you change tire size at all with the new tires? Did you change the gearing at all?

I would recheck the chain and basically double check all the work was done as a first step. Make sure all the hoses are still intact.

Did you accidentally disconnect one of the sparkplug connectors that attach to the things underneath the tank?

Follow the cable from the sparkplug itself back to where it plugs in. Make sure both of them are connected. Maybe even disconnect and reconnect.

You issue sounds like one I had where I was only running on a single cylinder. Bike felt funny when riding.

Once I reconnected it, big backfire due to the unburnt fuel in that cylinder.

Sorry I was late I was tired I wasn't paying attention to the punctuation. Now that I look at it, It is pretty hard to read.

No the tires are the stock size. As for the gear in I don't even know how to do that  :dunno_black: :D

I'm not sure, but now that I think of it I could have. I'll be sure to check It when I get home today.

Bike  would not be going 75-80 mph with a plug wire disconnected.  With a new rear tire the engine and tach would be turning at a slightly slower speed at same actual mph.  And the front tire at same actual mph would also be turning at a slower speed so speedo would be indicating slightly lower speed.  So going at same indicated rpm bike would actually be going faster and speedo would indicate slower.  If your confused so am I but difference in tire diameters from new to worn does make a difference between indicated and actual speeds..

It is confusing, but I remember reading about something like that a couple of months ago. I originally thought something about new tires might be the problem, but I didn't trust my judgement it seemed to simple. I thought I might have messed it up. I really appreciate the help thank you.  :laugh:
