Title: Dash refurb
Post by: fakejimmymorgan on August 17, 2015, 06:48:22 AM
Hi all.  Thought I'd show the results of my dash refurb over the weekend.

Materials:
crappy old broken dash
rusty faceplate
stripped screw
sandpaper
wax and grease remover
etch primer
adheasion promoter
bumper spray
Kill Rust aluminium
masking tape
super glue and gauze bandage.

Had much reinforcing to do as the sanding exposed a lot of super glue repairs and consequently opened them up again.  The pods were very sorry looking and although they could use some spray putty and another going over I've done well for a few hours work (thats a weekend when you have a newborn in the house I've decided).

I love it when people work on improving/cleaning up the stock dash. I hate those ridiculous aftermarket dashes.
The dash, that is like the GS500's boobies.
Anyway powdercoating the top plate black along with the triples and bars etc looks great IMHO. But remove those jewels before you do anything like that.
Cool.

cheers man.  I gave my ute a facelift last year and I just had gear left over from painting the wheels and the bumper.  Thought the old one couldn't look any worse.
