Title: GS500 resurrection
Post by: fakejimmymorgan on September 07, 2015, 05:02:43 AM
the weekend was eventful.

Top yoke and handlebars swapped (will need to get some new cables though if I want to run them neatly behind the headstock) right now Im happy that its functional.

Fork oil changed measured with a "dipstick" 60mm from the top of one fork 230mm from the top of the other one and it was green and watery.

New springs haven't arrived yet bet have got some LEDs for the dashboard but the indicator one has been left as a standard bulb as it will only flash on one of the  signals.  New lenses for the dash thanks to Paul on here for 3D printing them.

Have developed an issue.  After refitting the exhaust it was blowing badly from one pipe and now the bike won't start (lots of single fires but won't run if I take thumb off the button). bike stinks of fuel.  took out plugs, disconnected vacuum and cranked thinking it was flooded.  Drained float bowls which had heaps of fuel in them and still no change.  any tips that won't involve me removing tank and airbox again?

Made a tab for the centre section of the tail. Used some high strength epoxy to fasten it. Will see if it works/lasts.

It's a very pretty bike, much prettier than the one I'm resurrecting.
When you need to do plastic repair, look for the 2-syringe stuff; I've found it in Ace Hardware, and they only had it in cream color.
It works great!!

I used some stuff by permatex which was a 2 part epoxy.
