Title: Snapped Off Vacuum Port
Post by: WinterHack on September 08, 2015, 06:43:28 AM
I've accidentally snapped off one of the vacuum ports from the top of my carb. It snapped off right at the carb top.

It's got a rubber cap on it, so can I just block it off? What is it there for?

Ah, bugger. And I just bought a Morgan CarbTune, too. Guess I'll be on the search for a new cover!

I repaired one of mine with jbweld.  I ended up replacing it just to be safe, but it worked fine while it was on there.  I still have the one I repaired if you can't find another one or repair yours.  Mine is for the older style carbs, '89-'00.

Cheers for that. I will try to repair mine with superglue. If it works, all is good. If not, I will try to source a new (old) cap. Where are you based?

I'm in the states, and I see that you are across the pond.  Shipping costs would probably be prohibitive for this type of part.  Hopefully you can repair yours, or source one more locally.  I don't know if superglue will work.  some kind of 2 part epoxy of some kind would be your best bet.  Take it off the bike before you do it though so you don't get glue in places you don't want it, and make sure the hole for port remains clear.
