I start my bike with full-choke on, and then turn choke off once it reaches 4000RPM. It's running very well, so this only takes about 2 minutes. However, towards the end of that time I always smell a bit of plastic/rubber burning. Any idea what it is?
If I remember currently the owners manual says to keep the revs between 2000 and 3000 rpm for around 30 seconds, or a little longer if very cold.
You might be running too hot/ high revs.

agreed
Actually, my owners manual doesn't specify this. It states that it should be started with choke wide open, and run that way until it's warmed up.
Look for something burning on the engine / exhaust. Probably just something kicked off the road and stuck somewhere, but it could be a stray wire from the bike melting too.
Try running the bike in the dark (inside of a garage at night with proper ventilation) and using a flashlight to look for smoke.
See on Page 5-2 "starting the engine" under the chapter" riding tips".
