Title: pain of posting
Post by: Edward on September 17, 2015, 07:49:31 PM
Hi all - just joined. Very frustrating after logging in to have to go through three check points to post anything.  The images with letters are very hard to read.

Hi Edward, welcome to the site! Don't worry, those letters and questions will go away after your first 5 posts. It's there to keep the spam away!

it happens. 3 more posts and it will go away. if the letters are hard to read usually can shuffle them to something else. this combats spam. does quite well too. hang in there my friend and welcome. it gets easier i promise.

Thank you!  Sorry - after reading my post - I realized I must have sounded like a jerk.  My apologies to the group!  I just can't read the letters (maybe my monitor?), and had to literally hit the request for another image a dozen times and then I was guessing!  Glad to be here.

i didnt see you being a jerk. just aggrivated. weve all been there. when i joined in 2003 we didnt have the captcha system in place. and we would get spammed. trust me youre just about done with it :)

Cool.  Much appreciated.  I couldn't remember the name 'captcha' - yes and I tell you a lot of times I have given up on sites that still use them - as they can be tricky to get right.  I can live with the first few times - like getting a bike license.  (We are graduated licensing here - M1, M2 and the full license - I let mine lapse many years ago)...Thanks for the WARM Welcome!!!

Captcha is hard to read, and annoying, but that's kind of the point.

Welcome.

We absolutely deny your existence without at least one pic of your motorcycle added to this thread.

im right there with you....the security features make this site almost unusable.  If only I had known earlier they would go away with a few posts.   (excuse the hi-jack but Im gonna dump a few posts in hopes of eliminating these features...almost as dubious as the the interlock systems on the bike itself)

...and I wanted to say thank you to the board.

I think the 5th post is the last, so your next post shouldn't need it. This system definitely wasn't in place when I joined back in '06 :)

The captcha images here are some of the more difficult ones to read, however, there is an option to listen to the numbers/letters. It does make it a lot better, but as mentioned, you should only need to do it a few times.

Hey All,

Yes - I just plain couldn't read those captchas!  I hit the mark now and don't have to use them anymore.  So glad I found out they go away.  Trying to figure out how to post a pic of my ride and/or change my profile pic...I'll figure it out!  :)
