Holy hell man...... I'm sorry you've been to hell and back. I can't even imagine.....

I've only been a member here for a couple years and never recall seeing your bike. Maybe some of the older members might remember it? Yama, Buddha, GSJack, etc.

Good luck with your journey!

I am sorry to hear about all that crap you've gone through... I truly hope things get better for you and you are able to find your GS.

Good luck and hang in there...

Very sincerely,
SBW

Will - I know what you went through - Or atleast had gone through before 2007-8 - which was when you last were on here. I don't carry grudges, most of us don't, most of us basically are running the race trying to carry life to where they want to and grudges slow you down - a lot.

OK you had a café with 01+ tank and GSXR forks ? or was it katana fork set ?

I can think of Lopee from charlotte who had a café with Kat forks - but I don't recall seeing it with a 01 tank the 2-3 times I saw it. His handle is Lopee - His name was John something - skinny small guy in his mid 30's with a long ish face. Not unlike Donald Sutherland in his younger days playing some of those scary Nazi roles. But nothing like a Nazi though, very soft spoken and smart sharp guy.

No one else has a 89-00 café that I know of, and no one I know of has a 89-00 with a 01+ tank on it other than the one I sold a few yrs ago that had all 01+ body. But was otherwise stock. I got that from a mid 30's guy from the coast. But it had a original sub frame not a chop.

All I can say is - you may be able to re create it - may actually be even cheaper and you end up with a decent motor to boot.

BTW if someone sells you a bike with a fresh valve adjustment, ride it to make sure it is fine, and get it home and pull all the shims out and look for those classic Chinese shim numbers. There have been a rash of broken shims and hence broken motors.

Winter is coming my friend, that's a good time to suit up in 13 layers of warm gear and go hunting for a bike. I may not be able to help you on the sentimental value, but you can get yourself a decent deal and lots of us here will scour their local CL for you if you like.

Cool.

Sheesh man Will, I had to read your post in 3 sessions.
I know of 1 guy who lost his truck to a repo, got divorced, lost his job with the school system, got 2 DUI's and a bunch of other crap, like lose his stuff in storage, and when he was behind on the rent, he'd tell them to put his stuff out instead of fines and back rent, he's have no way to get it, it would get wet and so on ... and he wasn't a veteran, so he had no fall back however bad it was.

We do an awful job of helping people and a damn fine job of replacing them - probably with Illegals. As long as there are stories like yours - or the people standing by the side of the road wit ha sign that says "Veteran etc etc" seriously I think we should wall the country off and toss out every illegal and most of the legal ones too. Google and Oracle and Microsoft are just using immigration as a hammer against the locals. We don't want to train you to be an engineer or a doctor or anything else for that matter, cos a Taiwanese or a Guatemalan doctor can work for 15c an hour.

I hate to sound like Hitler, and I have benefited from this but in 25 yrs I have not seen the needle move at all and I blame the constant inflow and replace mentality for it.

Cool.

Hello, Buddha.  It's good to hear from you.

Yes, Katana forks.  Excuse me.

Lopee might be the guy.  I don't particularly remember his face.  He did seem pretty smart and congenial.

I try not to talk politics anymore.  There's nothing much I can do about things like that.  I've been relatively successful until this point, and I find it more of a problem with sociopathic leadership and an overwhelmingly feminist culture.

Hey man, I don't know you, but I read your story.  I've been low before too, but I can't say I've been as low as you, or even pretend to understand.  You are doing the right thing by going to counseling.  You might think about moving out of the place where everyone knows and judges you to somewhere that you can get a fresh start.  Thank you for your service.  I'm ashamed of the treatment that we give our damaged (mentally and physically) veterans in this country.

Lopee was in charlotte, and I've met him a few times. Look and see if you find his bike pics somewhere on the site.
It may not be it, my memory is awful, he had a cafe'ed one, but I think it had a 89-00 tank, may have had a stock FE and not had a powdercoated frame.
Not sure, look for pics and see.
Or just get another bike, 90% of what you may be looking for is the bike. The last 10% may be the sentiments.
Cool.

My sister used to work for the ASPCA poison control hotline.  Could be an option with that degree.

Sorry I could not see pics @ work, the bike was gold in the pics, but that was after he painted it. It used to be pearl white with some blue pattern.

Depression is a truly awful thing. My mom struggles with it and I have felt its suffocating effects as well. I have found that most people who have never felt it, just can't seem to understand it. It can make you feel even more alone...  :icon_neutral:

You ate... showered... and cleaned up. Yes, to me, that is indeed success. There were days a few months ago where I couldn't even eat. And going outside was not even fathomable. It's amazing how the smallest things can seem impossible.

Unfortunately, I do not have much advice for you (I'm sure you have heard it all before anyway) but I guess I just felt the need to reply and share a little about my experiences with depression (and anxiety).

I drink to cope with mine and also force myself to think of positives like God, my cats... my big screen tv (lol), my bike and my other vehicles... anything at all to get me through. I am sending good thoughts your way.

(Oh and don't ya just love when your brain feels the need to crush on someone? Yeah, exactly... thanks a lot, stupid mind  :icon_rolleyes: )

Lol.  I got embarrassed from publicly venting my private problems.
