Title: Changing mirrors to shave a few years off.
Post by: fakejimmymorgan on October 15, 2015, 03:56:37 AM
So I have the old square plastic mirrors and I'm not keen on bar ends. I've looked on fleabay and wondered if people could weigh in on which of these mirrors would help my 1990 GS look a little younger.

Please comment 1,2 or 3 or stock if you think no change is needed (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/15/f1f4cfa842acccdbfc56fd491240b457.jpg)

4. Bar ends? I love mine. I see a lot more than the stockers. Just an option!

Choice one if you want to keep the mirrors where they are.

I have mirrors that are very similar to choice #2 and I love them. It's amazing how much fresher they look (to me) than the stock ones.

I thought those ones #2 would get plenty of love. I'm torn between 1 and 2. I just don't like bar end mirrors (because they're illegal in SA apparently too). I worry that 1 looks a bit too KTM.

It would be nice to have really wide mirrors too.

So, tell me...If all it takes is a couple of mirrors to make a motorcycle "look younger", what is a quick fix to make the rider look younger?

I think #2 look cheap, and they are cheap. Remember the old saying "you get what you pay for". I like #3 but im not sure if they might be bar end mirrors. I can't figure out how they mount. And #3 seem to have alot of parts though. How many parts do you need in a mirror? It might pay to keep looking.
I'm pretty sure bar ends are illegal in all state of Australia. But i run them on my bike and so do many others, I love them.

I think all those extra parts and bolts are to allow for a universal fit.

I've had ones like #2 for about 3.5 years now and I have no complaints either.  They stay where I put them even when I accidentally bump one for whatever reason... and the black hasn't faded or anything... no vibrations and the glass doesn't have any water marks behind the glass/in between the mirror surface... Idk the exact link or brand though so different ones could indeed be made differently.
