Okay in a few weeks for all intensive purposes ill be rendered immobile ( to heal after 2 procedures) soo trying to configure pc as a glorified jukebox.
a couple ideas
i DO have a logitech wireless keyboard. but i dont have the usb appendage for the pc.
Or i also have a microsoft presenter 3000 ( used for powerpoint.) love free stuff from old workplace. lol
can the microsoft unit be used to control the music? was wondering. i DO have the usb appendage with this.

Hadnt been able to find the USB dongle for the keyboard. No biggie. however the microsoft presenter works pretty good as a media remote control. :) so recovery will be a little bit better. a basic remote control. amazon seems to like these things. idk why. Dammit my cat does too. ( built in laser pointer lol)

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. Are you trying to just set up a controller for play/pause, next-track, etc?
The easiest solution would just be to learn the keyboard shortcuts for the functions on WMP or an equivalent. For example, space bar might function as play/pause or Shift+"right arrow" or something for next track. It'll depend on your media player. You'd also have to leave that player as the selected window for it to work.
Most modern keyboards have built in shortcuts as well, my keyboard has play/pause/etc attached to the function keys with a "FN" modifier key. FN+F5 is play/pause and FN+F8 is next-track, for example. It's a compact keyboard, though, a lot of fullsize keyboards will have dedicated keys specifically for these functions. These days you find a wireless keyboard with dedicated media keys for pretty dirt cheap.
Oh, by the way, it's "for all intents and purposes". "Intensive purposes" doesn't really make much sense. :thumb:
Appreciate the heads ups :) but the grammar corrections to be honest, are not becessary. sure you mean well but as of the time, i wasnt going after perfect grammar or sentance structure. back to the topic of post my friend, the F key shortcuts, or shortcuts of any kind, the reason being is that after these surgeries this week i will be immobile for the most part. ( except bathroom or food preparation) neither my keyboard nor my logitech gaming mouse are wireless. spending additional funds for this purpose would be considered a waste if hardware on hand can accomplish this goal of mine. Which i stated earlier it can and does. eventually i will go wireless. or if i can locate my bluetooth feed for my yamaha reciever, will have that option. until then ive succeeded in my goal which was/is making a wireless controller for my desktop (pc) using parts on hand. But i do appreciate the relevant heads up on the shortcuts ;)

*Necessary
Watcher, i do appreciate the list of shortcuts. honestly i do. but to cover programs used, mainly it is going to be windows media player. because it will run whatever i have stored upon my desktop. again i do appreciate everything :)

I do belive some smart phone apps can connect to your PC as a controller over wifi. Never messed around with it, though.
indeed. ive read into this. that powerpoint unit seems to be doing the job. as a necessity its really only needed for 2 months give or take. as physical restrictions are eased. as a diabetic ill double that. the NWB restriction on left ankle is somewhat eased. BUT the smartphone app, im liking this idea. so could an xbox 360 controller if i want to go lower tech than the powerpoint unit.

Sounds like you've got plenty of options.
Speedy recovery!
I dont have internet at home. ( how am i online Eh?) this basic phone lol. i wonder if it is at all possible to tie into network. like a closed system. but the presenter 3000 does the job. it basically behaves like a mouse. although cursor is SLOW lol. but fwiw it serves the purpose. essentially my pc has 2 mice. that unit and my logitech G5 and they both work at same time. (no apparent conflict) have an external media drive as well (250gb) dammit i knew i forgot something at hosp. wifi. the drivers for this unit. ahh well thats the next goal. Or take my g4 invert the monitor and hang it from ceiling. the half globe is nearly identical to a ceiling light globe lol. Ehh , going to keep the gaming pc near tv. well once im able to get a 1080p it will serve as a full fledged media server. mouse and keyboard will go wireless as well as funds permit.
