Hi folks!
I very stupidly dropped my GS at a stop and managed to snap the front brake lever :( luckily everything else seems ok. Ive now replaced this with a pattern lever which seems fine braking though there is no travel in the lever or free paly, you literally touch it and its braking. Anyone else had t his and decided to remedy etc?
ps where are the answer to the questions to verify, took me ages to get them correct!!
Hey Matt, there's little to no travel in my front brake either, it's probably because it's hydraulic and not on a cable, but I do recall having seen a way to adjust them, I'll have a look and get back to you.
Where in Wales are you based? Cymru am byth!
Can't find the video at the moment as I'm on my phone, check out moonfleet41 on YouTube, it's adjustment of bandit levers, but they work exactly the same way as ours I believe.
im in west wales, and thanks! you?
how do i get rid of verification!!
Hi mattcymru and welcome to the site! Post two more times and the verification should go away for good :thumb:
thats good news, thanks folks!
does the video you mention involve filing that pin down?
Based in Cardiff, pity, bit far to meet up for a ride in winter! Yea I do recall something to do with a pin.
i might have to try it if it gets a nuisance! am i unique in snapping this lever? i was gutted :( only had the bike a day!
it will ;) thank you wolf ;) :kiss3:. if memory serves, the verification is up to 5 posts. TF posts do NOT contributeto post count. ( years ago myself and another member got into a postwhore contest lol. i made 1000 posts in one night. logged in to my acct twice to expedite it. alt+tab ftw. this no longer works. and the 45 second rule was imposed not long after. yes am guilty there lol)anyhoo back on topic OP as long as pads arent rubbing, id not worry about it. UNLESS brake application is sudden and harsh = potentially dangerous/lethal. my first of 6GS` its lever was broken. ( it was a wrecked bike when purchased) anyhoo, a few days i rode using back brakes only ( do NOT do this rears are only 30% of braking power.) i picked up an adjustable lever from a honda to rectify. i had filed off a HAIR of lever to give it a touch of slop maybe 1-2mm this was before youtubes stash of howto vids came into being. / jun `03.
Wished i could help further. if i can i will. Welcome btw :)
Posting pics via photobucket youll be able to do soon also :)
Aaron
Thanks for the advice, this is my first big bike so everything new to me and never fiddled before so was concerned it may be a death trap! I might file a touch off the top, does it matter if it's flat and does it need greasing?
