barely researched hypothesis:
given similar states of care, mileage and farkle,
1st gen DL650s are more valuable and in greater demand than the larger 1st gen DL1000.
discuss, argue, flame, offend.
Oh yea oh yea ... you wanna have a knuckle sandwich ???
Oh ... you actually make a point ???
Anyway I think killing the SV1000 and keeping the DL1000 was the most retarded thing Suzuki ever did ... IMHO ... but at tha ttime I was bereft of the hind sight I have now ...
Suzuki killed the SV1K cos it was losing to the SV650. Smaller, lighter, revvier hooligan bikes made more sense ... and the SV1K was losing its a$$ ...
But that wasn't all ... It kept the DL, cos it sold better for more $$$ than the SV1K ...
And the best part - The SV650 was slowly replaced by the Gheydius. Done, anyone that liked the SV was stuck with a crappy steel framed POS now, and the DL lives on.
SV1K's sell for just about the same as SV650's and the 650's are trashed. Now - discuss, argue, flame, offend.
Cool.
Buddha.
Around here it seems like 1st gen 1000s sell for around $500 more.

That seems about right. Definitely not less.
Well my experience is:
Bought my 07 DL650 in 2010, put 20,000 miles on it, sold it in 2013 for exactly what I had paid for it.
That is basically unheard of in motorcycles.
I go thru bikes like crazy, but my '05 Wee Strom has been around for almost 11 years, a record for me :thumb:
