Title: Brake wiring
Post by: buzzingfrog on October 31, 2015, 06:07:18 PM
Hello all, I have a 09 F model and have just installed the Ventura rack system (pretty east to install and nice). I have a couple Givi monolock cases, large and small, and wanted to be able to switch between them since the base plate is the same. Both cases have brake lights so I want to install a quick connector in the brake electrical line for when I swap cases.

I Believe the black with white brake wire on the bike is the negative. But I am unsure of the white with black and the brown wire. Further complicating things Givi instructions are brief and my large case has three wires (black, white and blue) for the brake and the small box has only two (red and blue). I'm thinking the two wire box must just be brakes on only and the large box must operate like the bikes brake light (always lit and bright when activated).

Anyone have experience with installing a Givi top box with brake lights?
Thanks.

Take a look at the wiring diagram here: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=55344.0

The black with white is the ground/negative like you said. The brown is the positive for the running light filaments and the white with black is the positive for the brake filaments.

Thanks for the quick reply. I should be able to make it work when my quick connectors arrive.
