Title: It has been a few weeks....
Post by: GSamIInsane on November 02, 2015, 08:36:24 AM
...since I have posted, but I have been busy...getting my M2 license!!!!!!

It is official, I am now past the temporary permit and on my way to my M license!

I do have a question tho....I keep adjusting the slack out of my chain, and it keeps getting slack again.  Is it stretching?

Congrats man!

"Usually" when that happens, it is because the chain is tightened too much at adjustment time, and gets a little stretched next time the bike is ridden. There is a limit for wear on 520 chains - you'll have to search for it. It is something like "XX mm between Y number of pins".

Oh, that helps, and I can take a measurement with calipers?  I will search for it.

 520    15.875    6.35    10.30    5/8    1/4

Chain pitch is 5/8.  When I take a very rough measurement with a tape measure, I think it is slightly proud of 5/8, maybe by 1/32, hard to tell.

I will ride it until it snows, and change chain and sprockets over the winter, unless someone feels it is urgent to change it over.
