I was wanting to put 2" Rox Risers on my 2006 GS500F and was wondering if anyone has put these on and if so are the stock cables and brake lines long enough to work?
Thanks for any info in advance.
FYI if you use the search function you can find lots and lots of discussion about risers on this forum. I have no experience with risers, I did lower my handlebars (clipons) and I needed a shorter brake line. Everything else on my bike just got rerouted.
i' ve done this-need new longer brake line
and retoute the clutch cable.
Thanks alot for the info on the search function & about installing the risers.
I put the motech up and back risers and while I did not have to reroute or extend anything, I think I'm pretty well at the brake hose length limit. 2" might need a new hose. Possibly.
I've done the 2" rox risers. The brake line is absolutely maxed out length wise. It would be more prudent to get one an inch or two longer.
not sure about these rox risers but if you're running normal bars rather than clips you can just get a couple of 7/8 clamps and mount them upside down on top of your old ones if that makes sense? either way 2'' is massive, you could go for smaller on the riser and compensate using bar rise.
thats what i did anyway, as for cables everything was good for about an inch or so rise no problem although i did have a braided line and raised the forks through the top yolk/triple a bit to sharpen the front end up.
i wouldn't recommend getting a brake line an inch or 2 longer, it will be massively oversized and likely find somewhere to rub, been there done that, blew a brake line out.
