Hey guys, new user here but have been a lurker for awhile. I have a 2005 GS500F that I am slowly converting into more of an E type/ cafe look. I will be getting a new exhaust for x-mas, this one here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-Shorty-Dunstall-Style-Muffler-Reverse-Cone-Chrome-1-1-2-1-5-8-1-3-4-/161241911225?hash=item258ac44fb9:g:cVwAAOSw~gRV3zqj&vxp=mtr
I also have a K&N filter that I put into the stock airbox but it still has the restrictor on it. I will take it off once the exhaust is installed and rejet from there, but what do ya'll suggest for starting out? I looked at the wiki and I don't know if my filter would be considered a drop-in or a pod. But for now I think my future jet sizes should be:
Pilot: 20
Mid: stock
Main: 135
Needle position: up 1 step
Screw: tinker with it
that is based off a youtube video, but I found on the wiki that they don't adjust the needle at all, but put the mid up a little more, and the main up a lot more. What do ya'll think? My bike tends to run a bit on the lean side currently, but nothing serious.
Thanks.
I'm curious about this also. Was wondering if reading the plugs is the only way to check jets.
Oh skip that K&N in airbox step.
The paper filter is cleaner, the hiflo filtro is $10 and eminently reuseable (wash in gas and dry and reuse) and you can jet it to 20/132.5 and run it, and that would work even with pipe.
Cool.
Buddha.
