Title: Just re-jetted, encountering problems...
Post by: alexhessander on January 08, 2016, 12:50:22 PM
I just re-jetted my bike and now it has high idle and problems starting...very similar to symptoms from when my petcock was leaking gas into the carb strangely. After jetting, I switched it to prime for a couple of seconds to fill float bowls and then turned it on and it started up fine and after it warmed up it stays around 3500 rpm. I did not mess with the idle or air screws.

More info would help. Air filter, exhaust, model year (3 circuit vs 2 circuit carb), jets you installed etc.

Might be as easy as turning the idle screw in. You did just put a larger idle jet, you should need to turn the idle screw in.

I have stock air box with K&N drop in, I used an ebay exhaust, similar to this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Emgo-Megaphone-Exhaust-Universal-Muffler-W-Multi-Reducer-Set-26-Fits-15-8-pipe-/201424719669?hash=item2ee5d94f35:g:JaUAAOSwuTxV7~Op&vxp=mtr
It's a 2005 and I used 22.5 pilot 62.5 mid 142.5 main.

And sorry, did you mean to put air screw in one of the sentences in your last post?

In my experience 22.5 was too large, and I had an even higher flow air filter. I had tons of issues for a while and ended up putting a  20 in the idle jet which solved everything. And try to turn in the idle screw to drop the idle.
