Title: 2004 GS500 E Engine (Ran out of oil)
Post by: libindaniel2000 on February 27, 2016, 05:06:35 PM
I have a GS500E engine that I ran out of oil. I got a 2nd engine via eBay and replaced the engine last year. The bike got totaled while it was at the parking lot. I am moving and the new place won't have a garage. Is anyone interested in this engine that was ran out of oil? I am sure the gaskets will need to be replaced. I used the electric generator piece (two magnets) for the older engine (2006) since the 2006 configuration would not work.
I was hoping to use it as a project to learn more about the engine, but the new place does not have a garage and I need some money. I am in Savannah, GA.
How much should I be selling the engine for? How do I go about finding a shipping company?

Yeah, you'll have a tough time selling that as is. I know it doesn't work for you, but you might try parting it out. And if you do, sign up on the GSResources too - the 500 cylinders & pistons are a good swap for the older twins.

Yep,  worth a reasonable amount more in parts!

Agreed.  If it is just the bearings then you have a whole engine full of sellable parts.  If you want the money you'll have to be patient and also willing to package up and ship the parts.

Baah, why do these things have to show up when im not in a position to make a reasonable offer lol. and im not far away either. as far as shipping, theres dhl, ups MIGHT. ( SHIPPED FREIGHT COLLECT.) i.e. whoever buys it, pays the shipping upon delivery. ive used this method to ship larger or heavierr items in the past. unless you wanted to break it down into lighter and smaller parts that usps or fedex would handle
