Post by: rg500gamma on March 03, 2016, 02:53:10 AM
put brand new battery , fully charged from dealership ,  then check voltage at idle  13.7-8  to  14.02 - 4  , then  rev to 4000 rpm  in neutral  and voltage drops  to  13.06  , then when back at idle   13.7-8  to 14.02  whats wrong   2007  gs500f  with  16 000  miles  and valves  all  have  .002  clearance  both  intake and exhaust .  thanks in advance

I don't fully understand your description.  The voltage is dropping when you rev it to 4k rpm?

The voltage at the battery while running tells you more about the charging system and less about the battery itself.

Lo Jack   is  what  is killing my battery  ,   put  in for  $500.00  by berts motorcycles in Covina  California ,   great  at providing  theft  / tracking  by police  , good  chance  of getting your bike back ,  problem  is always  has to on the trickle charger  ,  well   Lo  Jack   no longer  offer  for motorcycles  at this time  , got it back  in 2007  when I got the  2007  gs500f  ,  does  any one else  have   Lo jack  on their  gs500f  / gs500e   with no  drain on battery ?    Took  bike back to Berts  and that is what  they told me ,  must  be on trickle  charger  in order to use bike in the morning .............   so  its either  have  Lojack  removed  or risk  bike being stolen  , theft  is big time here in California  los angeles  ,  so trickle  charger  it is  .............

hey  Sledge   thanks  for the help   ,  I had it load tested  by  Whittier  Kawasaki  , battery was  spot - on   ,   just  a problem  having  Lo jack  fitted  up  on bike  ,  Lo jack  is always  on , would  have to be removed  to keep  battery in  tip - top shape  ,   boy  do I go  through  the batterys  , next  up   will be   Motobat   yellow   battery   :thumb:

I take it you have a battery tender fitted? ( if not it would trickle charge as needed. i agreee tho can be a PITA, but if it were me, id rather run a cord to bike vs dealing with theft...) a classmate had a bike stolen in west covina. he was NOT happy.
