Title: Riding on Reserve in Cali???
Post by: sublime on February 18, 2004, 09:46:23 PM
:x Recently I have been having problems with my 02 GS.
The problem is my bike keeps cutting out at random RPM's and Speeds.
There is no consistancy with when it happens, does it when i first start riding or sometimes after i have ridden 10-15 miles.
What is does is the RPM will start to fall then when i give it more throttle they just keep going down until the engine cuts out.
Well After it spent a week at one shop and 3 days at a different one, the only thing i have been told is that for some reason CALIFORNIA GS500's have a certain emissions set up to where if I drive with the fuel select at ON it will flood out the engine. They said I am supposed to ride on RESERVE because it has a different fuel flow???? this they said was told to them by SUZUKI?  not sure if I should be waving the BS flag or not.
but i have ridden the bike that we on reserve for about a week and haven't had a problem yet??
COMMENTS ANYONE?

BS..

its probably shutting down due to stuff on the ON line. My 01 has no isseus, though i must say in RES it does seem to pull harder butthat's probably cause the line is clean.

Bullshit.

you seem to be having a fuel flow problem...did you install any inline filters? did the bike sit for long period before you bought it? have any carb work done lately?

I would believe that the in-tank fuel filter is clogged. Is the tank rusty in side?
Title: BS...

OK BS again... but if it doesn't happen is reserve that means crap in the petcocks on circuit, if it happens in reserve as well... welll tyr prime... if prime is fine but the other 2 are bad... that means vacuum line is bad. If it happens on all 3, either the in tank filter is clogged or the vent into tank is bad or crap in fuel line to carbs from frame petcock.
Cool.
Srinath.
