Title: Kickstand switch question
Post by: Riessie on March 28, 2016, 09:01:08 AM
Hi guys,

it's been a reeeeeeeeally long time since I've posted here. Since then i have:
- Gotten the bike running
- Went on a lot of trips with it
- Grenaded the engine
- Swapped the engine for another GS500 engine
- few ods and ends things.

However, i just finished the swap, rolled the bike out to see how it rides after standing still for a year. Engine runs, and as soon as i put in to first (or second), it dies...

So, no test drive for me..

I immediately checked the kickstand switch. The kickstand presses the switch just like it should when i put the stand up. The neutral light doesn't work either, but the bike runs fine when it is in neutral.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be? The Engine/kickstand switch didn't have issue when it was on the previous bike. Neither did this bike have this issue with the previous engine/kickstandswitch.

All help is welcome! Thnx guys!

Short out the switch first & see what happens.

Thanks, i'll try that first. Although i cant exactly figure out where the switch's cable hooks up.

Another question i have is: Might i be the neutral switch? Since the neutral light, doesnt light up when in neutral, but the bike dies when put in first. However it does start and keeps running when the gear is in neutral. Only dies when it is put in to gear.

So i probably just answered my own question... sidestandswitch..

Replaced sidestand switch with one from the other GS, everything works fine now!
