Title: Tank Liner??
Post by: nik1 on April 30, 2016, 01:50:25 PM
I have a 93 gs500. The owner before me did not have gas in the tank for a long time, which made the tank rust really bad. This has created pinholes in my gas tank and I have a very small amount of gas leak out of them. I finally bought another tank off ebay. It's also rusty inside, but does not have holes like my current one. I've read some bad reviews about the kreem and por-15 tank liner kits. Hopefully someone that has dealt with this can help me. Thanks!!

Steer clear of the Kreem kits - I've never heard a good thing about them. The Por15 kit is generally considered a better kit, but I've never used either personally.

What if I just cleaned it out and used it? Is the tank liner a must do?

No tanks that I'm aware of came from the factory with a liner, so no they aren't a must do. Clean it out with whatever method suits you, and immediately fill it with gas. Don't be surprised if you get some residual rust spots though.
