Just when I thought everything was in good shape after I was hit by a car ( who ended up running and the PD just closed the case, 'No longer going to continue investigating' in their word) I noticed my bike pulling even when I had the clutch in and then it would stop. I look under my clutch lever and the cable right where it goes into that notch, is broken. The little plastic/metal piece is broken inside just enough for it to hang on without completely breaking.
So to my question, I haven't changed the clutch lever yet but is there a good guide or tutorial on changing it out? I'm ordering the cable from amazon tonight.

It looks like it's just the plastic that goes around the metal piece thats broken and apparently is the only reason I can't engage the clutch. I undid the screws at the end of the cable because I was trying to figure out how to remove it but it's too dark. I'm gonna be pretty pissed if I have to buy a new cable over that little piece of plastic.
Same thing happened on mine, got lucky that the plastic bit was still reusable if a little damaged. Seems like it would be included with the replacement OEM clutch lever here: http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/2006-suzuki-gs500f/o/m9752#sch508933 (#9). Curious to know what you ended up doing in any case.
I just left it in. Pulling on it won't make it come out so I know the vibration won't shake it loose. The metal piece is in there nice and tight with or without the plastic piece. So I know it won't come loose on me.
