Title: FS GS 500 rear wheel and front forks
Post by: Knuttzz on May 21, 2016, 05:39:16 PM
I'm selling my rear wheel after doing the katana rear and fixing to do the katana front end swap so that's for sale also. Front end will include forks and master cylinder but not brake lever or triples. Forks were rebuilt at the end of last summer and have approx 4K miles on them. I also have a set of sonic springs that I think ar .9 or .95 that I'll let go of also for just a little more.

I'm not sure what to price them at so if your local to the Charlotte NC area shoot me an offer. I'm not looking to get rich lol just enough to find some stainless front brake lines for the GS front end and seals bushings and dust seals.

What year is the bike and then what springs are currently in the forks the sonic springs or stock or some other?
You said forks were rebuilt, includes seals, bushings, and dust seals? also comes with front brake line?
Will you sell just the front end?

It's an 07 front end. I can pretty much throw everything in (wheel with rotor , complete brake system caliper and master cylinder ,minus brake lever and clutch control and lever.  ).... The only thing I need to keep is the lowere triple with stem and nuts. I'll need the stem and hardware off of it to mount up the katana front end.

By rebuilt I mean new bushings , seals and dust seals. It has the factory springs installed with 15w oil. The sonic springs are in a box. I installed them but they were way to stiff for my liking so I put the stock springs back in.

oh man sounds like a good deal. I've got an 89 though. I suppose it would be doable and I like the idea of it being newer. I actually was thinking about about replacing my master cylinder and I just ordered the parts to redo my forks. I could probably still cancel the order. Just getting your front end might could almost be cheaper and less work but then again I'm not 100% sure it would fit. I also have to replace my front tire since it's dryrotting. Do the wheels have good matching tires with tread left?
The forks should just be a direct swap right?

If they both are 37mm it should fit into your triples.

The front wheel doesn't have a tire and the rear wheel has a basically brand new Bridgestone. I'll have to look at it tonight to tell you what tire it is tho.

I'll check at my work tomorrow, every now and then I can sweet talk the shipping manager into shipping something for no cost. Lol. If I can't I'll try and get a shipping price tomorrow.
