Title: Leaking float bowl
Post by: smokestack on June 07, 2016, 01:25:56 AM
I recently rejetted, it ran too rich then rejetted again. It started leaking fuel out of the right carb somewhere after I reassembled the second time. Hard to tell where it was coming from, but it was at or above the bowl seal.

During last reassembly, I let a screwdriver slip and it bumped the float from the bottom.

I'm having trouble following the Haynes manual on checking float height. Am I just turning the carb upside down and measuring from the bottom of the float to gasket plate?

How would you check that the float needle was functioning correctly before reassembling?

Is there a gasket sealer that would be safe to use on the float bowls?

This should help you measure your float height:

My understanding of float height is measure from the seal to the top of the float...

I don't know about gasket sealer, but they do make new gaskets for pretty cheap. Try partzilla.com

No problem! Someone posted it in one of my threads as I'm also working on a leaking float bowl right now. Good luck!
